Ms. Daisy Beanie- Test Pattern for Nohooksgiven

Image
On August 29th, 2016 my husband brought home the cutest little German Shepherd puppy!  We named her Daisy June!  She was and still is such a joy in our life.  I can't imagine celebrating her Gothch'Ya Day (adoption) in a more knit-worthy way than putting the Ms. Daisy Beanie onto my needles! UPDATE: Pattern is live  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/ms-daisy-beanie Ms. Daisy is a hat pattern designed by the talented Sarah Netzel of Nohooksgiven! I am excited to get it started! The pattern calls for a bulky weight yarn. I currently have some Bernat Roving in Flint and it has been calling my name. My hope is that this gorgeous stitch doesn't get lost by the dark color.  Either way...I just know I'm going to love it! Some more about the pattern and designer: Designing a pattern of any kind is an incredible talent/skill to have.  I am always honored when I get to test a pattern!  There is so much creativity within the fiber art commu

Marea- Test Pattern for Blackthorne & Free

Image
UPDATE: Pattern has been released and is available here  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/marea-hat This is my first test for Blackthorne & Free and I couldn't be more excited! Sandi, owner of Blackthorne & Free , had posted an image of Marea in a facebook group. It was love at first sight. I just had to knit it! Thankfully, she wasn't stingy with her newest pattern and allowed me to test it for her! I adore the simple texture of the waves!  This is a great pattern for learning cable knitting.  It is a simple intro to the skill and produces a gorgeous finished product. You don't have to be scared of cables! Give this a try! Also, I appreciate the use of readily available yarns! This is done in Lion Brand's Wool Ease Thick & Quick. I love the feel of this acrylic based yarn. It is soft and has just a touch of fuzz!  There are tons of color options and I genuinely enjoyed looking through them all! This is their "Spice" shade. I

East Texas Newborn Photography Workshop With HLP

Image
The photographers in East Texas have formed a very special and tightly knit community. It has been my pleasure to get to know many of them. Especially, those who focus on working with newborns. One of my closest friends, via the industry, is Heather of Heather LeeAnn Photography.  Her work with tiny babies is gorgeous!  Those little clients of hers have graced the front page of my ETSY shop for three years!!!  I have genuinely enjoyed seeing her growth and creativity blossom!  I cannot wait to see what she does with this latest creation of mine!  Heather has invited me to be a sponsoring vendor in her workshop for local newborn photographers.  I am super excited to be a part of this!  I even knitted up a new bonnet just for their goody bags!  The Pom Pom Pixie! This bonnet is hand knit in a simple garter stitch.  It has a gorgeous texture and features a fun tiny pom pom!  I knit this using a luxury cashmere/merino mix.  It is soft and stretchy.  Plus, who would

The Avonlea Skirt

The Avonlea Skirt My social media is full of photos of adorable children who are excited for their first day of school! Everyone is dressed to impress!  The little ones are wearing their new shoes and outfits. All are accessorized with big hair bows and even bigger smiles! The Avonlea Skirt was directly inspired by the excitement of this season and my love for all things vintage!  I, of course, had to have something extra special for my own little student!  I wanted her to have a great first day of school too! This pattern is designed to have a bit of a vintage feel.  The DK weight yarn is light weight and knits up quickly!  I hope you enjoy knitting it for your little girl.  Please share the finished results here or on Ravelry!  I would love to see this skirt in action! The Clove Beanie- Test Pattern for HocknChain

Introducing The Clove Beanie by HocknChain!!! UPDATE: Pattern has been released!!!  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/the-clove-beanie I absolutely adore working with other fiber artists because it opens the door to so much creativity within the community!  This week I got the honor of testing this amazing pattern! I believe it will be released sometime this month or next!  HocknChain is a lovely designer based out of Chicago!  You can see more of her work on her IG and FB!  IG: @hocknchain FB:  https://www.facebook.com/HockNChain/ My sweet friend loved this hat so much that I let her keep it! So, on to the goody good details!  I was super excited to get started and ran to Michael's to pick up some of the recommended fiber. Unfortunately, and just my luck, my local store did not carry what I needed. So, I settled with a gorgeous skein from another brand. Got home and caked up the yarn and started to knit.  I quickly realized that the yarn I had

The Phyllis Wristlet

This pattern came about fairly spontaneously! My sweet friend, Ashley, had been seeking a certain pattern for arm warmers.  When none were found, I decided to try my hand at writing up a pattern for her.  Thus, this was named after her Aunty, Phyllis. The Phyllis Wristlet is intended to be a simple and quick knit. It is great for new knitters who desire to create a gift worthy project. Knit flat and boasts a beautiful mock cable. I hope you enjoy this as much as we have.  Please share your finished projects with us here or on Ravelry!  Size: One Size Fits All Materials: ⦁ Yarn- Any worsted weight.  I used "I Love This Yarn" in Ivory (100 or so yards) ⦁ Needles- US 8 (5.0 mm) ⦁ Yarn Needle-to sew up the side seam Abbreviations: ⦁ k-knit stitch ⦁ p-purl stitch ⦁ sl- slip stitch (slip purlwise with working yarn in back) ⦁ psso- pass slipped stitch over ⦁ yrn- yarn round needle (do as you would for a yarn over but bring the wo
