Weaving Wonder's Basic Knit Beanie- Test Pattern

Image
Weaving Wonder's Basic Knit Beanie Weaving wonder is quickly becoming one of my favorite designers to test for. I appreciate her ability to use simple stitch combinations to bring forth gorgeous texture! And I have come to expect those textures from her patterns!  Thus, this pattern took me by surprise! Weaving Wonder on FB:  https://www.facebook.com/weavingwonder/ Weaving Wonder on  IG:  https://www.instagram.com/weavingwonder/ NOTE: I will update this post once the pattern is LIVE At first glance the hat doesn't look too incredibly special.  It is a common design that is easily accessable online. 1x1 ribbing followed by stockinette and finished with a pom pom!  Simple, quick, and practical. However, the catch to this pattern has more to do with construction. I adore this decrease/crown shaping because it makes for a perfect fit! It is also super fun and gives you something to look forward to at the end of a simple knit. The hat is decreased using s

Ellsworth Bonnet- Test For Weaving Wonder

Image
So excited to introduce you to The Ellsworth Bonnet by Weaving Wonder! This precious bonnet is perfect for a little Pixie baby! It reminds me of a woodland fairy!  Don't you just love love love it? The pattern uses a combination of simple stitches to create this lovely lace-like texture!  It is perfect for photography use.  I tested the newborn size. However, there are other sizes in the pattern. I will update this post once the pattern is LIVE. My favorite part of this project is how quickly it knits up!  It is really fun to start to see the pattern come together.  Also, the stitches fort a beautiful border to frame the face.  I just adore it! Fiber Spotlight: Sublime Cashmere/Merino in light sage.  Super soft and luxurious feeling. Perfect for a tiny baby!  Special Elements: I added the matching sage chiffon ties. However, the pattern has instructions for braided ties made from matching yarn.  Either one works. However, the chiffon is perfect for newborn photography.

Brulea Bonnet- Test pattern for Weaving Wonder

Image
This is my first time testing for Weaving Wonder. Her gorgeous patterns and info can be found on Facebook and Instagram! Go check it out! I tested this bonnet in the newborn size.  Obviously, this size would be my go-to. However, the pattern will be available in a range of children's sizes. This bonnet uses a combination of basic stitches. It is a perfect knit for someone that is learning how to knit and wants to make something other than a dishcloth! It knits up fast and boasts a GORGEOUS texture. As usual, my newborn items have to be sent off for professional photos and this is no different. It goes home tomorrow, Monday, and I will be looking forward to the magic that Twinling Photography produces with this newest prop! I really think this is a great knit. And you will too!  I will be sure to update the post once the pattern is LIVE. Here are some photos I took this morning just to document.  The baby is one of my dolls that I use to test sizing! Her name is Kristi

Mountain Fern Beanie- Test Pattern For Blackthorne&Free

Image
One of my preschoolers is having a birthday this week!  I think every child should get a little something on their birthday. Especially, if they have to be stuck at school! This Mountain Fern Beanie is perfect for him. He is such a fun and active little boy.  I just know this will come in handy for those cold days on the school playground! My favorite go-to yarn for kid knits is "I Love This Yarn" from Hobby Lobby.  It is soft, durable, and affordable.  It also doesn't have a lot of "shine" that is common for acrylics. For this hat I used the Dark Olive as the main color and Ivory Tweed as the contrasting color. The pattern is designed by Blackthorne and Free.  Check out her work on Instagram. She is amazing!  I just love testing her patterns. Sofia had to model it for me. She adores knits and all things with pom poms! I will be sure to update this post once the pattern is live on Ravelry. I know you'll want to knit it up too.  My twin nephews have a

UPDATE: Pattern is LIVE  https://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/lacey-chapeau How can I pass up the request to test for Nohooks given?  I can't. I must knit all her gorgeous patterns!  So thankful to be a part of #knittersofinstagram.  There are tons of talented designers and I'm blessed to get to see their work first hand. This hat was the fastest knit to date! It was unbelievable!  This is heavily textured and oh so soft! Knitted with Lion Brand's Jean in Top Notch.  Such a gorgeous burnt orange.  Love it for this up coming fall season!  Modeled by my good friend and fellow teacher, Hailey!

The Blythe Beanie

Blythe is a name that means "Cheerful/Carefree" and I just love the sound of that.  These word are the best way to describe the combination of mock cables and popcorn/bobble stitch.  It is also the best way I would describe my sweet Sofia! Happy, carefree, and cheerful! The hubby says to expect a cooler winter this year. We're ready! Are you? The Blythe Beanie is going to be perfect for keeping Sofia's noggin nice and toasty while playing at school! I hope you enjoy making this for your kiddo!  Happy knitting!  MATERIALS: (Heavier) Worsted Weight (4) yarn. The Adeline Slouchy (a beehive beanie)

One of the most knit-worthy humans I know is my daughter's Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Mary Helen! She is kind, loving, and persistently attentive to my 5 year old.  I am honored that she requested a hat. The Adeline Slouchy is a beehive style hat.  This is a simple stitch combination used in a variety of projects. I hope you enjoy knitting this up as much as I have! Three Day Weekend

Image
It is Monday. However, it doesn't feel like it!   Sofia slept in because she is still recovering from a busy weekend with family.  Therefore, I got the opportunity to bake bread and have a long moment of quiet. It is rare that I bake bread. But I sure do love it when the time comes. I will link the Pinterest recipe in this post. I really do enjoy baking. It fills the house with such a pleasant aroma and it seems to put everyone in a better mood.  I like baking almost as much as I like knitting!  Both activities fit together nicely!  They bring about a calm to our busy life! There are a bunch of knitting projects in the works for this coming week. However, this one I have really struggled with.  I enjoyed making this Knot Lace Bonnet out of mohair. (Will post link to pattern.) However, to make a matching mohair wrap has not been easy! I do my wraps on a knitting machine and the tiny fuzzy fibers kept breaking and getting twisted/tangled in the tension feed.  I frogged the

My Clan

Image
Hey, guys! I thought I would do a quick intro! This is me (and my hubby ^^^)... I'm the one who knits all the pretty things! My name is Sasha. I own and operate SofiaSofisticates, a shop dedicated to knitting and sewing the tiniest photo props for newborns! On an average day you will find me curled up in my chair with a cup of coffee and some sort of project on my needles!  They are rarely empty!  I mostly knit things for babies, my daughter, and my friends.  I also enjoy testing patters for other designers.  On the off chance that I have a quiet week, I will design my own things. Mostly, I just like to hang out with the fam! This is my husband and our two girls! Sofia is the one with the curls and Daisy is the one with big ears!
