Flax by TinCanKnits

January is the perfect month for selfish knits.  I get a full two weeks off of school and my birthday is quickly approaching. Thus, I usually take this time to knit things for myself and family. 
The Flax has been on my list of things to knit for a long time. The motivation for it this year was the Flax Along KAL hosted by GeordiKnits on Facebook/Instagram. I thought it would be fun to start the year by knitting something so many others have done. It turned out to be the right choice! 

I had a gift card, from one of students, to Hobby Lobby where I was able to purchase the yarn for this sweater.  Yarn Bee's Sweet Divinity is just lovely and comes in several earthy tones.  Red Clay was my favorite. It has a variety of shades including burnt oranges and brick reds. My favorite thing about this acrylic is that it is not shiny like some "cheaper" yarns tend to be. It also produced a garment that has a lovely heavy drape which makes this so very cozy!

The Flax is a free pattern on Ravelry provided by TinCanKnits. It is such an easy pattern to follow and makes a great "first-timer's" sweater.  If you've been wanting to dive into knitting garments...give this pattern a shot.  It is so so worth your time. 

I had a bit of trouble knitting the yoke portion at first. However, once I added the extra stitch markers (as suggested in pattern) I was able to get the issue resolved quickly.  Past that point it was smooth knitting and the project only took me four days!  

My sister came over and was able to grab some pictures for me! Super thankful she made the time to do so!  I treasure this first project of 2019 and am looking forward to doing more fun KALs in the future!

The Phyllis Wristlet

This pattern came about fairly spontaneously! My sweet friend, Ashley, had been seeking a certain pattern for arm warmers.  When none were found, I decided to try my hand at writing up a pattern for her.  Thus, this was named after her Aunty, Phyllis. The Adeline Slouchy (a beehive beanie)

One of the most knit-worthy humans I know is my daughter's Pre-K teacher, Mrs. Mary Helen! She is kind, loving, and persistently attentive to my 5 year old.  I am honored that she requested a hat.
